Fixed-line authentication
FTTH (Fibre to the Home) services – using different PON (Passive optical network) technologies, such as GPON, XG-PON1, XGS-PON. Based on different estimates for consumer services in the industry, high-performance fibre access is needed more than ever. Because of this, one the most common new use cases for Radiator AAA server software is the flexible and high-powered AAA for FTTH operators.
At the core of FTTH deployments is subscriber authentication. This is where Radiator AAA server comes in. The Radiator AAA server is an industry-leading solution renowned for its flexibility, scalability, and extensive support for various authentication methods. It can authenticate users based on multiple factors, including username/password combinations, certificates, and more advanced mechanisms like two-factor authentication.
The Radiator AAA server integrates seamlessly with both the BNG and OLT/DSLAM systems, managing authentication requests swiftly and reliably. When a subscriber attempts to connect, the BNG forwards the authentication request to the Radiator AAA server, which verifies the user’s credentials against a database. Upon successful authentication, the server authorizes the connection, applying the appropriate access policies and logging the session for accounting purposes.
Radiator’s flexibility allows it to integrate with various backend systems, such as LDAP directories, SQL databases, and even cloud-based authentication services, providing a comprehensive solution that can be tailored to the specific needs of the service provider. Its ability to handle high volumes of concurrent sessions makes it ideal for large-scale deployments typical of FTTH networks.
At the same time, Radiator Service Provider Pack’s flexible licensing model allows companies to utilise the same Radiator licence also for their internal deployments like employee Wi-Fi authentication and network device administration (TACACS+).
