Radiator Policy and Charging Pack

Radiator Policy and Charging Pack is a product that enables integration between RADIUS-based Wi-Fi and fixed-line network systems and Diameter-based mobile network systems.

With Radiator Policy and charging Pack, operators can integrate billing systems with Wi-Fi offloading functionality, set Wi-Fi policies and VoLTE QoS and much more.

Basic information

Radiator policy and charging support for Radiator AAA Server Software is available through Radiator Policy and Charging Pack that includes:

Extensible PCRF with VoLTE/VoWi-Fi support
Extensible PCEF – RADIUS integration and Wi-Fi offloading
- PCEF Gx usage monitoring and Gy online charging support RADIUS prepaid and postpaid accounting
Extensible Online Charging System (OCS) for prepaid plans

Radiator Policy and Charging Pack extends Radiator by allowing direct connections to your 3GPP infrastructure through Diameter interfaces – a protocol commonly used in telecommunication systems. Radiator Policy and Charging pack includes support for different policy and charging related interfaces and implementations specified by the 3GPP.

The existing authentication, authorization and accounting features in Radiator are available for Diameter – RADIUS integration. Examples of use include Wi-Fi offloading, integrating Diameter online and offline charging with RADIUS based infrastructure, integrating RADIUS accounting with Diameter online and offline charging and much more.

Radiator Policy and Charging Pack can be combined with Radiator SIM Pack to add 3GPP AAA server functionality, Diameter Wx and SWx interfaces for EAP-SIM, EAP-AKA, and EAP-AKA’.

Popular use cases

Quota and QoS for Wi-Fi offloading

Radiator is configured as PCRF with SQL backend. Integration with WLC over RADIUS, HSS and HLR over Diameter and SIGTRAN and PCRF over Gx
Role of Radiator P&C Pack: WiFi offloading functionality, set up as PCEF negotiating Wi-Fi policies and usage monitoring with PCRF.
Allows monetising Wi-Fi offloading with usage monitoring for Wi-Fi offloaded traffic.
P&C Pack can be used separately from SIM Pack as PCEF with existing SIM-based authentication solution.

Radiator as PCRF

Radiator is configured as PCRF with SQL backend. Integration with P-GW over Gx and IMS over Rx for VoLTE QoS, and with Gx with AAA server for Wi-Fi offloading policies.
Role of Radiator P&C Pack: PCRF with conversion between RADIUS accounting to Diameter credit control.
This deployment allows prioritising VoLTE call QoS over mobile data and/or setting Wi-Fi policies in when data is offloaded to Wi-Fi
Can be used together for WiFi offloading and VoLTE or for either one separately.
